Antelope Valley Techies is presenting a Business Website Workshop on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at The McGill Agency (New Millenium Learning Center) 44421 10th Street West Suite E, Lancaster, CA from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. This is a one day, hands-on workshop in which you will get help planning, creating, publishing, and advertising a professional looking website that is easy to build, easy to manage and update, and very inexpensive. You will walk away from the workshop with a website that incorporates text, pictures, graphics, a map, and a contact form and is designed to attract shoppers to your site and turn them into customers.
Registration Fee: $110 includes a catered lunch.

What You'll Need for the Workshop
You will need a domain name and Yahoo! Web Hosting plan, both of which we will take care of in the pre-workshop assignments. The web hosting plan is $8.96/month for the first two months and $12.95/month thereafter. This monthly fee is not included in the registration fee.
You will need to bring pictures and your logo if you have some. If not, we'll have to purchase stock photography from www.istockphoto.com (don't worry, it's only $1 per picture.) on the day of the workshop.
You'll need to bring information about your business. If you have a business plan, that's great! Bring it. If not, it's not a problem. We will create some text content in the pre-workshop assignments.

Arrive between 8 and 8:15 AM ready to put your business on the web and take it to the next level!

Workshop Requirements
If you're a business owner or representative, don't have the budget to hire a professional web designer or are just a do-it-yourselfer, this workshop is for you. You need minimal computer skills to be successful. (if you've been on the internet before, you've got enough skills!)

Pre-Workshop Assignments

There are a few things you will need to prepare for the workshop. You will receive full instructions after you have registered (so no need to worry about it now)
1. Choose a domain name
(www.mywebsite.com)
2. Set up your web hosting account. We will use Yahoo! web hosting. Currently $8.96 for the first two months and $12.95/month after that.
3. Take some photos of your business or choose stock photography from www.istockphoto.com. If you currently have a logo, you'll bring that to the workshop.
4. Write a few words about your business. What should we know about your business? What products do you offer? What services do you offer? What sets you apart? How can a customer contact you?

About the Instructor

I am Will Smith, the owner of Antelope Valley Techies. I have spent the last 10 years working as a technology trainer at CompUSA, Hoag Hospital, and Yahoo! Search Marketing. I recently left Yahoo! to start Antelope Valley Techies, a Web Design, Internet Advertising, and Technical Training firm after seeing how far behind the Antelope Valley is in technology.
